Status of three rare animals on Chagos

During two visits to the Chagos Archipelago, central Indian Ocean, in 1975 and 1978-79, the status of three species that are endangered or rare was briefly assessed. Two species were marine turtles: the green turtle (Chelonia mydas) and the Hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricata) and the third being the Coconut Crab (Birgus latro).
