Ile Anglais Salomons ocean side drop off 12m

Description
The typical reef slope profile in these reefs is that of a fairly gentle slope downwards to occur from near the surface to perhaps 12 or 15 m deep, at which point the reef steepens and plunges downwards, sometimes vertically. For corals it is one of the optimum places to grow and this depth almost invariably supports the highest diversity of coral species. The area is also rich in the very important red encrusting algae which also has a key role on the coral reef in consolidating sand and allowing the reef to grow.
